Representing Poway

How we help Poway businesses and employees

Poway's employer base is dominated by aerospace and defense manufacturing, precision machining, medical device suppliers, and the professional services around them. Federal contractors carry a second compliance regime — affirmative action obligations, ITAR and export control restrictions on who may access technical data, and flow-down clauses from prime contracts — sitting on top of California wage, leave, and discrimination law.

Those regimes collide in practice. An export-control restriction on hiring, a security clearance revocation, or a contract-driven layoff each has to be handled so it does not create a discrimination or retaliation claim. We advise on the sequencing and documentation before the decision is made.

For smaller Poway companies, outside general counsel coverage handles contracts, employment questions, and vendor disputes at a predictable cost, with the same lawyers available when litigation starts.

Poway FAQs

Questions we hear from Poway

How close is your office to Poway?
About ten minutes. We are at 16870 West Bernardo Drive, Suite 400, in Rancho Bernardo, directly off I-15 north of Scripps Poway Parkway.
Can export control rules limit who we hire?
ITAR and EAR restrict access to controlled technical data by non-U.S. persons, but the compliance answer has to be implemented carefully — poorly drafted job postings and screening questions have produced citizenship discrimination claims. The restriction is on data access, not a general license to screen by national origin.
Do you handle contract disputes with primes and subcontractors?
Yes. Payment disputes, scope and change order fights, flow-down clause interpretation, and termination for convenience issues are core business litigation work for us.
